Lady Vervaine
The Meat Project // A Series for the Face The Fear group // 3 of 4
Don’t get me wrong: I loved the taste of meat. Steak, sausages, salami, bacon, burgers: I loved them all. But the avoidable slaughter of sentient beings made no sense to me. The only thing that made sense was to be vegetarian.
And I was, for many years, though it was a struggle to give up meat. When people asked me why I was veggie, I would refer them to books like Animal Liberation, in which the philosopher Peter Singer makes what I still consider to be an irrefutable ethical case against meat-eating.
But here’s the twist: I’m not veggie any more.
