It was pure luck that this shot turned out. I was shooting at the Eagle Point Point Road area north of East Dubuque, IL on the morning of August 16, 1996.
For those who know the Dubuque, Iowa area, Eagle Point was the site of a rickety vehicle bridge across the Mississippi that was closed and dismantled in the 1970s-I was over it once as kid.
Not long before sunup, stack train No. 16 came rolling down the river at about 45 mph behind a then ever-present SD40-2. Why not try a pan shot? So, with a shutter set at 1/8th of second, I squeezed off a frame of KR64 with low confidence that it would turn out. I was pretty well pleased when it came back from Kodalux.
