Little changed Leek.

For a long as I can remember, Leek (Staffs) bus station has looked broadly thus. My earliest memories of it are in travelling to Cambridge as a child with my mother to visit her sister aboard Premier Travel in the late '60s. Oddly to anyone used to all coach services through North Staffordshire calling at Hanley (nominally Stoke's City Centre), long distance services at one time skirted it either using Leek to the east or Newcastle under Lyme to the west.

My next encounter with Leek's linear bus station was as an enthusiast seeking out the buses of Berresfords ... and to a slightly lesser extent Procter's.

Associated businesses which populated the once bustling accompanying arcade may have come and gone, but the overall appearance of the place has remained broadly unchanged to this day. So far as I'm aware, it celebrates some significant birthday later this year (50 years?) and it is hoped that some small commemoration might take place in honour.

To complete the scene above, Berresford's liveried 'Fantasy Fleet' member, Leyland Leopard Alexander 'Y Type' ORS 60R completes the picture.
