Cringe
Whilst sitting eating lunch today overlooking the rubbish bin, my eye was caught by this old newspaper cutting stuffed amongst the other garbage. It's from our local paper's 'Way we were' supplement, one dedicated to the events of 1986 and the National Garden Festival held here in Stoke on Trent. Much effort went into (sadly) transforming Shelton Steel works into a landscaped park ... all for a few months. In the picture above, someone's obviously put a lot of effort too into building a detailed landscaped model railway, only to have some reporter refer to it as simply 'a train set' aaagh! No doubt the same soul would refer to railway stations as train stations, a railway line as train track, have all transport related stories headed 'Just the ticket' or 'all aboard' ...maybe they even have an 'alternate' email address rather than an alternative one you could send your news to!
I shall look forward to the day their motoring feature is re-branded 'The pap pap page'. I wonder why 'The Sentinel's readership is in terminal decline?
