'Deltabus's Delta
Whilst having a trawl around for something different to post I came across this nothing special record shot. It's good that certain pictures acquire a significance with the passage of time, otherwise I for one would probably never look at it again. It shows First PMT's class leading Optare Delta H801 GRE whilst with us at RBW for MoT preparation work. Little did we know that a couple of years later it would join the ranks of the preserved in the care of fellow Flickrite 'Deltabus' who's passionate about the type. Nowadays 801 wears a coat of privatized PMT red and yellow once more and has had missing seating restored since it's Driver Training days. The operator bought nine DAF SB220 based Optares, and eleven Leyland Lynx (Apparently there would have been an equal number of each had the DAF/Optare not been so expensive). By a twist of fate, one of the Lynxes has today passed into my ownership but that's another story!
The 'decker in the background is my ex Turner's Northern Counties bodied Daimler Fleetline which had recently returned from Germany.
