Ford Trade-in.

Y, oh Y? Don't know what it was about Alexander Y Type bodywork that caused even me to excuse the fact that there might be a lightweight chassis hidden underneath... but this was often the case. If you had to run a Ford (or a Bedford) on bus service work, then the Alexander product was the best way of disguising your choice!

During the early 1990's the Knotty business expanded to take in outside work which necessitated another piece of yard across the road from the principal facility still used by RBW. Chief amongst the customers was a fellow Flickrite's bus dealing business which is how this Ex Alexander Northern Ford R1014 USO 161S came to be with us. My memory is a touch sparse when it comes to this era, as so many things came and went. I seem to recall that this bus had been traded in by Express Motors of Hulland Ward (Nr Ashbourne) Derbyshire in return for another ex LT Bristol LH. Shortly afterwards the Express business was acquired by Stoke on Trent based operation D&G on their perpetual expansion trail.
