Other than for Routemasters, half -cab buses were getting a touch thin on the ground with large operators by 1978. This was the scene in Southampton that summer as Mrs 'R' and I passed through on our first NBC 'Wanderbus' based jolly holiday. Rear engined Leyland Atlanteans were by the time making serious inroads, but considerable numbers of these AEC Regent Vs were still active with bodywork by East Lancs and their Neepsend subsidiary. As the buses and crews bask in the afternoon sun, one of the later finds time for e cheery wave.
