Merseybus Dennis Lancet, Southport.
With Southport's famous Lord Street as a backdrop, Merseybus Dennis Lancet EKA 228Y waits for departure time. These were another bus which I liked and had to own an example of, the Duple Dominant Bus bodywork with dual purpose seating gave an attractive and comfortable little bus. EKA 224Y came to Knotty, and I think that I posted a shot of it some time ago. The Lancet was supposedly a light weight offering from Dennis... which I suppose compared to the Dorchester it was. It was available in several lengths of which this was the shortest. Power normally came from Perkins, V8s in the larger ones, and the T6.354 straight six in this case. Dennis did produce a demonstrator with a Leyland 401 engine too, but I can't think of any PSVs other than the demonstrator which ended up in South Wales with Brewers. The chassis did have something of a following with local authorities who used it as a base for mobile libraries.
