With the new scanner up and running, I've 'been' to Portugal again this morning for a few hours. Sadly that wonderful country is now all but devoid of AEC's products after many years being wedded to the British marque. However with a little artistic licence, a willing mind and electronic devices, I've re-lived the happy weeks spent there chasing Southall's finest in the pre-digital age. Even at the turn of the century, there was a feast of things at which to point the camera.
Here in the central Portuguese town of Fundau there were two operators, both of whom used AEC products. This one was Rodoviaria Beira Interior who'd recently commenced a re-liverying excercise and their 2317 (BM-51-67), a mid engined AEC UTIC, is seen disgorging the last of its elderly passengers down the precipitous stairs at the town's bus station.
