Junior School Punishment Book

A page from a junior school punishment book from the period from the mid 1960s to early 1970s when it was decided to end the use of the cane at that school by the new Headteacher.

The date, surnames and teacher who inflicted the punishment have been removed due to modern requirements on documents.

Were these punishments justified, and were some of them a little harsh for the event, it has to be remembered that these were not older boys at senior school, but boys in a primary school, many of who were well under 11 years of age.

The crimes where the cane was given.

Spitting, flicking glue, kicking infant, writing obscene notes, kicking children, spitting, picking on younger children, using foul language.
