Lisa Reilly and Mary B Shepard contributed a paper on this tracery light to the 27th CVMA International Colloquium in York in July 2014. Their view is that the tonal disparity between the blazing rays of the sunburst and the creamy yellow of the central disc suggest they are not original to each other. They date the disc to the early 15th century and note analogues for the parallel guidelines and the budded, inverted S-shaped verse enders, which here separate each word, in All Saints' North Street windows and in the Minster East window. The inscription in the disc "Sufferance fait ease en tempe" (most likely translation "In time, from suffering comes ease") is explored with "its promise to tell us much about the visualization of devotional language in late-medieval England." The use of Anglo-French was particularly strong in devotional and religious writing.
