Hotham St Oswald has no less than six windows designed by the major Scottish artist Douglas Strachan, inserted between 1939 and 1945. This is one of the larger ensembles of his work in England.
The east window at Hotham shows the Adoration of the Magi and the Shepherds, with above the shepherds and magi angels bearing symbols that in part foreshadow the child's future suffering. At the foot of the centre light is the Annunciation and in the tracery the Agnus Dei surrounded by symbols of the four evangelists and the dove of the Holy Spirit.
