GARUDA VAHANA 02
when my mother came and stayed with us in 2007, for about 6 months, she suffered the fate of most Indian parents visiting their kids in the US. Besides the boredom, endless waiting, complete dependence on their kids to ferry them around, they endure a lot of stuff they often dont share. She came to the US the first time in 1975.
When I asked my mom if she was ever scared being alone in the house when we were all at work , she said " never, I have my Garuda Vahanam" looking over me ( literally ' hawk transport' mythological ride of one of the pantheon of Indian Gods) LINK : www.indiayogi.com/content/indgods/garuda.asp
Apparently this hawk visited her ever so often, and I have seen it only once briefly. Finally saw it this morning , and was able to sneak up on her / him. (hence the OOF wall of my back patio)
I am no ornithologist, but after wikipedia, it looks like a Red shouldered hawk or a Cooper's Hawk .
I plan to blow this up for her living room in Thrissur.
