Fumarola Nevado del Ruiz/ Fumarole Nevado del Ruiz volcano, Colombia
omada en un vuelo Bogota-Medellin el 29 de marzo de 2012. Se observa una fumarola saliendo del crater Arenas o Cumanday. Este volcán hizo explosion en 1985 y al caer las cenizas calientes sobre la nieve la derritieron formando unos flujos de lodo, o lahares, que inundaron las poblaciones en la base de la montaña, matando a mas de 20.000 personas y destruyendo a Armero, Tolima
PD: Ayer 30 de marzo se subio el nivel de alerta a naranja.
Photo taken during a flight Bogota-Medellin on March 29, 2012. A fumarole can be seen on the Arenas (Cumanday) crater of the volcano. In 1985 the volcano had an explosion that sent hot ashes into the sky that fell over the snow melting it. All this water formed mud flows, lahars, that went down the canyons and flooded the low lands, producing the death of more than 20.000 people and destrpying the town of Armero.
PD: Yesterday March 30 the alert level was elevated to orange (probable eruption in the next days)
