The 48's are on the ramp of their newly opened quarters at 7017 Vine Street in Carthage. Notice the equipment carried: Hamm Fire Department lanterns; a couple of ground ladders; nozzles; hose; and spare tires. A large spotlight is also on board and a bell is mounted on the dash.
These small Ahrens-Fox rigs were constructed on Republic automobile chassis that were manufactured in Hamilton, Ohio. This building was in use until 1939 when the new fire station was built on Seymour Avenue. After this station was closed the building was converted to a police station which was the location of District 4.
