In the post office window it fits well, discreetly advertising a sewing service of great vintage, a single retired lady earning a small amount for her troubles, but always in demand from mature clients in the locality who know and trust her.
She will kindly visit and stay with ladies who are in discomfort. For such services, the costumed lady will gladly pose for a picture to advertise the retired lady’s services. In such ways the costumes of the village are conserved from year to to year, like the surrounding greenwood trees.’
