Rear Range Lighthouse, Severn River, Berkeley, England
This light, and its partner, the front range light, were built in 1937, and are known as the Berkeley Pill Lights. They replaced earlier wooden mast lights. The rear tower is 12 meters high. Each lighthouse shows a continuous green light through 3 front windows. The front of each tower also has 9 white vertical slats, which appear as a solid white from a distance, and serve as a day markers for river traffic. These two lights are the only two intact and functioning on the Severn River. Both are close to the abandoned Berkeley nuclear power facility.
