Anemone nemorosa blue form
Wood anemone, Warley Place
Occasionally you come across plants in the wild whose flowers open to shades of pink-mauve instead of the usual pure white. A couple of clumps in the woodland at Warley Place have flowers of palest blue. There are a couple of blue cultivars available today and so one cannot but wonder if these are the feral survivors of some variety cultivated here in the past by Ellen Willmott rather than a naturally occurring blue variant
