South American Snipe (Gallinago paraguaiae)

Usually a bird of wetlands and grasslands, this one was just calmly perched on a fence post.

 

Fence posts seem to be the favorite perches of many birds in the southern grasslands of Brazil, a perfect lookout in these open landscapes.
