peacock fern
It’s not a moss, it’s not a fern. It carries characteristics of both, but it’s from a distinct and ancient lineage of vascular plants in the Selaginellaceae family. Selaginella willdenowii aka Peacock Fern. It is a fern ally with slender stems covered in small scale-like leaves that can vary in size and growth pattern.
