All Muscovy ducks have a wide flat tail. On the head, the wild male (drake) has a blackish or dark red knob can be seen at the bill base. A hen (female) is much smaller has feathered face and lacks the prominent knob. The drake has a low breathy call, and the hen a quiet trilling coo.
