Pixel Rigs - Work
My work setup (I'll make a pic when I get home to).
Left is my crappy old Inspiron (which we built here at work from 2 half working ones) that has mostly short attention span stuff on it (browser, email, twitter, IM, etc). Right is a Power Mac from ages ago (again, built from a lot of parts out of half functioning Macs, lol).
Should get a picture of the machine's casing, looks like Frankenstein's creation. The mac is actually the file holder for all the work documents and I can use the laptop all around the building to work on.
Backstory: I work as a Guidance Counselor / Office Manager at a social project in which kids aged 15 - 25 that dropped out of normal school / work get trained to work with computers and learn the basics of "working" (being on time, keeping promises, etc, etc).They work and learn assembly, repairing, software, networking, etc and eventually go back to school / work again.
Both machines run on Ubuntu (Fiesty). We use Ubuntu here cause it's free and easy. Repaired PC's go on to second lives (like the laptop and Power Mac I'm using for office stuff now). Usually they end up with people that can't afford a high end PC, schools, volunteer organizations and some third world countries :)
