American Eagle

Winfield Scott Stratton, a carpenter struck gold at the Independence Mine above Victor, Colorado in 1891, bought the American Eagles in 1895. Thje American Eagles Group consisted of three shafts and reached its maximum depth on 1902. At that time the deepest shaft was 1,540 ft. and was the highest mine in the district at 10.570 ft. LKittle is known bout the actual production since Stratton's mins were all privately held, following his death i 1902 the Stratton Estate held it. Reopened in 1924 by the Stratton Leasing Company, in 1936 a rich vein of ore wa found between the 19th and 21st levels. It was closed 1940. "The mine did reopen but I don't have that date plus is in operation now.
