Out Building

The current land ownership and lands use patterns in the area

are fragmented. Approximately 50-60% of the land in this area is

privately owned. These lands are a mix between remains of

historic ranches, 40 acre residential parcels, old County

subdivisions with 5-10 acre parcels, and mining claims which are

becoming residential parcels. The Town of Nederland lies to the

west and abuts Reynolds Ranch. Mixed in are scattered blocks of

National Forest land ranging in size from just a few acres to

approximately 1300 acres. This largest block of National Forest

land abuts all three open space properties.

The tour guide also mentioned that when a person found ground they wanted to mine to stake it out at a corner they claimed at the bottom of tree they'd place info in the cut the made till they got to the claims office.
