Abandoned homestead. There were many such farm spreads when I lived in the Palouse country. The family would grow up, go to college, leave the area and when the parents died, sell the land to the neighbors or build new, more modern homes either in town or on a choice piece of their property. There are many third and fourth generation families in the Palouse too, still dry farming their family holdings. You don't call it a "farm" when its over 14,000 acres. Taken in 1964.
