Calopteryx virgo (Blauflügel-Prachtlibelle) ♂
The Beautiful Demoiselle (Calopteryx virgo) is mainly found along clean, cool, oxygen-rich streams and rivers. Males are easy to recognize by their metallic blue-green bodies and almost entirely dark blue wings. Females are usually greenish or bronze-colored and have translucent brown wings. The larvae develop in the water, while the adults often rest on plants near the bank and hunt small insects.
