Common PCB Routing Mistakes & How to Avoid Them

PCB routing errors often cause signal failure, here are 3 key mistakes and solutions:

1.Inadequate ground handling:Mistake - Using a single ground wire for analog and digital signals. Solution - Split analog/digital ground planes, connect them only at one point (star grounding) to avoid interference.

2.Too long parallel traces:Mistake - Parallel signal traces over 50mm without spacing. Solution - Keep spacing ≥3 times trace width (e.g., 0.6mm spacing for 0.2mm traces) or add a ground trace between them to reduce crosstalk.

3.Ignoring thermal vias:Mistake - No thermal vias under power components (e.g., voltage regulators). Solution - Add 4-6 thermal vias (0.3mm diameter) under high-power parts, connect to inner ground planes to enhance heat dissipation, preventing component overheating.
