Northern Red Bishop
"Northern Red Bishop" is a brightly coloured weaver bird; the male displays vibrant red and black plumage during the breeding season to attract females, as seen in the photo here. It is called a bishop because the bright crimson and black feathers of the breeding male resemble the traditional colorful robes worn by Catholic church bishops, Wish I could have got closer, which wasn't possible as we were in "Lions Territory". They are known famous for dramatic seasonal colour changes, fluffy puffed-up feathers, and vibrant social habits. Breeding males transform from plain streaked brown into brilliant orange-red and jet-black.
