Elephant's Trunk Nebula

This is a faint emission nebula that's a challenging target to image. The Elephant's Trunk Nebula (IC 1396A) is a concentration of interstellar gas and dust within a much larger gas region in the constellation Cepheus about 2,400 light years away from Earth.

 

Imaging: 172 x 180-second images (8.5 hrs total ingestion)
