YI-AGE ¦ GVA 13.12.1977
Boeing B.707-370C (c/n 20889/889)
Iraqi Airways
Genève-Cointrin (GVA/LSGG)
13 December 1977
This Boeing 707-320C was built for and delivered to Iraqi Airways in August 1974, and was to be regularly seen on the carrier's European routes. Like for example at Geneva, which was regularly served from Baghdad.
Registered as YI-AGE, it was subsequently seen completing its landing roll after touching down on then runway 23, and showing Iraqi's livery of that time, probably the best they ever had.
Save for a short stint with Arab Air Cargo, the 707 served with the Iraqi flag carrier until early 1991, when during the course of the Gulf War, it was ferried to save-haven at Amman, Jordan. However, even after the war ended, YI-AGE never returned to Iraq and was eventually broken up at Amman during 2012.
