A gull resting on the old bridge platform at Tippen / Naturspidsen in Frederikssund, looking out over Roskilde Fjord.
This concrete structure is part of the remains from the old railway bridge over Roskilde Fjord. From 1928 to 1936, Midtsjællandske Jernbane had a roughly 300 meter long railway bridge here, a little south of the current Kronprins Frederiks Bro, connecting Frederikssund and Hornsherred.
After the bridge was dismantled, the bridge structure was transported to Aalborg, where it became part of the railway bridge over Limfjorden.
The gull, the old lamp, the moss-covered concrete, the grey sky and the soft telephoto background give the scene a quiet documentary feeling. It is a small piece of Frederikssund’s railway and fjord history, still standing in the water years after the bridge itself disappeared.
