Combs, KY

CSX U23B 3210, CSX GP38-2 2593, CSX GP40 6724, and PAL 8189 (later 8301) ease down the EK at Combs. My best guess is that this is a T500 series train that loaded somewhere east of Hazard and is headed back to Louisville for interchange to the Paducah & Louisville. CSX to PAL coal trains in the late 80s and 90s went to LG&E Mill Creek, TVA Shawnee, or GRT Jessup. I assume the GP10 hitched a ride over on empties and is headed back in this photo. 8189 shortly became PAL's 8301.
