HaywardPaige-Winogrand

For this assignment, I chose to replicate Garry Winogrand’s unique stylistic qualities, to capture a Social Landscape Photograph. His photos were greatly centered around capturing the daily lives of people, focusing on their gestures and interactions with each other. Winogrand’s style consisted of creating images that portrayed peoples “decisive moments” throughout the busy streets of New York City. His photographs often included abrupt cropping, distortion, and tilting of the camera in order to bring his visions to life. For my photo, I decided to capture a moment in time of a full crowd at the LA County Fair. I chose this location because I thought it would be very fitting, as there were a lot of interactions between people, and it could possibly be seen as a replication of the busy streets in New York. As for modifying my image, I added a black and white filter to further emulate Winogrand's style. I took this photo using my iPhone camera, and shot it using landscape dimensions.
