Other wildlife photographers will know what is going on here: I have just put my camera to my eye, and my subject is reacting as most of them seem to do...
An eye of your subject should be visible in a good photo, so maybe this one is perfect after all.
In truth, I was a little frustrated, since the light and perch were there (I did not set them up), the bird was there, and then.... you see the results :)
