Gathering
May 4th is known for a number of things. Here it is the Feast of the English Martyrs, when people can remember the hundreds of Catholics who were killed in England and Wales for their beliefs between 1535 and 1680.
In Lancaster, Catholics (mostly, but not exclusively) meet outside the castle to walk the route taken from the castle to the site where the 15 Catholic martyrs were executed.
