Pushing Past Mannheim
METX SD70MACH 506, built as TFM SD70MAC 1669 in March 2000, flies down the CPKC Elgin Subdivision on a sunny May evening on the rear of an eastbound Metra express commuter train. METX 506 was built for the Transportación Ferroviaria Mexicana in Mexico, and later became KCS 3969 after the Kansas City Southern takeover and received fresh Southern Belle paint. KCS 3969 was retired in 2019, and was sent back to Progress Rail for a brief moment before getting rebuilt with head-end power and specially modified for commuter service before recieving fresh Metra paint as METX 506 in early 2023.
