Quantum Fold II – Out of time - Chapter 12/6
Adrienne paused, eyes closing as the world lurched strangely around her. Everything felt… out of sync. Every motion dragged, as though time itself had thickened into syrup.
Then she remembered the Vey’thira’s warning— the Horocyclians had tampered with the Core.
She lifted her hand. Even that simple movement crawled through the air, delayed, distorted.
And the strange men— they made no sense. Why were they here? How had they reached this place?
“Do not wait.” The voice struck through her mind like a bell. Wisps of color drifted around her, swirling in agitation.
“Who are those men?”
Adrienne whispered.
“They seek to do harm. Haste. The pull guides you.”
She steadied herself, grounding her breath, feeling the invisible tug— a direction, a calling— and then pushed forward as fast as her slowing body allowed.
Exhaustion gnawed at her. Each step felt like wading through deep water, heavy and resistant. But the pull grew stronger. She was close.
Ahead, an astonishing sight emerged: an intensely bright, sparkling energy field veiling a colossal structure, lightning crawling endlessly around its surface. As she approached, her hair lifted straight from her scalp, charged by the storm of power.
The pull became a force— not guiding now but dragging her toward it.
"Enter. Haste. Haste!"
The voices pressed urgently.
Adrienne stepped into the open, took one last look at the men. That one step seemed to take forever. Time had almost stopped. She closed her eyes and stepped into the energy field.
