Red Sunset and Red Sodium

What an honour to be chosen for Explore, not only that, I have reached 300 followers on the same day! I cannot thank you enough for all your support and the amount of people who have viewed and faved in just 24 hours!

It goes to show, if an iPhone photo taken at night is deserving of Explore, anything is possible!

Below is what I’d originally written about this image:

I’d gone on a quest to find the remaining scania Omnidekka at bus link still in the reading bus silver livery - knowing that it may soon be repainted.

However I think the reading bus livery can be put aside here, a beautiful winters sunset left a lovely display of red clouds. I’d adjusted the angle slightly to my original plan to capture it.

To match the colour, some of the last low pressure sodium street lighting which can be found in the country had just turned on to start their warmup. These examples are located on the A513 flyover where it meets the A38 at Alrewas, and are original to when the flyover was built in 1983, making them enter their 43rd year of service, and very likely their last unfortunately.

Possibly my favourite photo I’ve uploaded on here taken at night, and not very often I do, when you’re using an iPhone it doesn’t agree with the dark…
