Aurelio Baldor es el autor del libro de álgebra más famoso, temido y difundido en América Latina hasta la actualidad , en mi época nadie podía pasar de año si no dominaba El Baldor . Su solo nombre evoca respeto, temor y solemnidad. Pocos conocen que era cubano y habanero.
Este colegio funcionó posteriormente durante muchos años como la escuela secundaria básica Carlos J Finlay, hoy completamente en ruinas.
