Device to Root out Evil (1)
If you remember seeing this sculpture by American artist Dennis Oppenheim in its original location at Harbour Green Park in Vancouver, you were there sometimes between 2005 and 2008. Device to Root out Evil, also known as the "Upside down church", was supposed to be on permanent display in Harbour Green Park when it was brought to the city during the 2005-2006 Vancouver Sculpture Biennale, but pressure from resident groups who were offended by it, forced the city to get rid of it in 2008. It has found a new home at the Glenbow Museum in Calgary.
