Drinking Bees

I have seen and photographed bees doing many interesting but this hot, dry summer is the first time I have ever seen bees drinking water. This year the birdbath in my yard is even more popular with the bees than it is with the birds who dearly love splashing around in the cool water. From sunup to sunset I have observed a constant stream of the little gals gulping water. If you look closely in the large mode you can see their little tongues lapping at the water.
