Red sandstone sheltering Kane Spring along the old Spanish Trail in San Juan County, Utah. Kane Spring was a major watering place along the Spanish trading trail which ran from Santa Fe, to Los Angeles which at the time the trail was in use from 1829-1848 was part of Mexico. After the U.S. - Mexican War ended in 1848, the trail was mostly abandoned.
