[ROLEPLAY] Piaffe.

Piaffe. A highly collected cadenced trot in place, the horse 'sits' on its quarters with the front free moving. With clear rhythm and impulsion, and used to develop the levade.

 

I remember listening to seminar after seminar about the movement and scouring the internet to watch the professionals at work, making sure to keep my mind open and fresh while reading. Sighing as I tried to stomach watching the good and the bad looking for examples to work from, having contacted my trainer the night before to schedule some time to work on the movement.

Training the movement is simple, yet needs consistency and takes a lot of strength from the horse to carry the weight evenly in carriage.

 

This was the photo of a very big, very good first try at it in hand. It was clear to me then that Absinthe had a talent, and that I would have many more long mornings working to build him up to continue the movement forwards,

 

as they say, you never stop learning.
