Probably my favourite shot from my 5 weeks in Asia, I was looking around on NAVER Maps (their version of Google maps) for any elevated shots that could show off one of the many impressive viaducts that the Janghang line has to offer. As luck would have it, I found what looked to be a big concrete pad just above the tunnel entrance of one of these bridges.
After spending 30 minutes hiking around, crossing a river, scaling the side of a hill & getting trapped in vines, I was dissapointed to find that the shot had been covered up by trees. I then looked up and noticed there was a fence line that went pretty much to the top of the hill, which I spent another 15 minutes climbing up.
Seen crossing over the Nampo Reservoir, about 5 kilometres south of Daechon, KoRail GT26 locomoitve 7411 heads south running as #1559 from Yongsan to Iksan.
An interesting fact if you ever want to visit South Korea, if you try to use Google Maps for directions - it won't work for anything other than public transport. Because of national security concerns & the fact that South Korea is still technically at war, they don't allow any foreign map services to operate in their territory. The good thing is that the alternative (NAVER Map) was actually far better for navigating around than google ever could have been. Even a bumbling foreigner like myself was able to navigate through Seoul without getting lost.
