animation street scene

This stop motion allowed me to explore different lighting, how the mood can change, different compositions, and the way in which I portray movement. I created the set with cardboard boxes, wood, watercolour, varnish, paper, card, wood stain, egg boxes, acrylic, and a mixture comprised of salt, paint, flower, sugar, and water for the outside of the buildings. I thoroughly explored lighting technique, choosing the lighting which illuminated the character in the most detail, and set the scene of a street in Japan the best. I also placed lights inside the shop so that the detail could be seen. However the set and character were too small to create much flow within the characters movement. The character was very difficult to move, and fell apart easily, which would not be an issue if done at a professional level with large sets and appropriate equipment.
