2024-06-20, #10 - Finding a Parallel with Current Events in the Prophet Habakkuk
The corruption and abuse of power by the leaders and the elite citizens of israel taking place in the latter part of the 7th Century B.C. (before Christ) sounds to me so much like what's been happening in America during the last 4 years -- the deliberate abuse of power to perpetrate injustice, to disregard the laws of the nation, and to persecute and punish the righteous.
What's happening today is nothing new. Sinful mankind is by nature willing and eager to sin, to take advantage of circumstances for one's own benefit. That was the nature of Adam and Eve's sin in The Garden of Eden ... although lying Satan deceived them into thinking doubting God and doing things "their way" would make them equal to God.
It takes trusting a forgiving God to change our hearts and direct our steps in the path of righteousness. That, like the Bible as a whole, is the message of the Bible and of the Gospel of Jesus the Messiah and Redeemer. Jesus came to save sinners ... like me. Perhaps like you, too?
