My last image is my “Student Masterpiece” that I consider my "best work" in this course. This is an edit from module 8. I loved this photo when I took it, but the edit really surprised me as I was really captivated by the photo. I love the colors that came out after editing this photo. The blues and orange tones are so pretty to me. The lights that are a bit blurred almost remind me of the holidays as there are so many Christmas lights out and that's what this photo makes me think of a bit. This photo really made me want to start taking more photos and play around with editing them more as I had so much fun doing so. The bright orange reflection from the lights really stand out to me and create such a nice contrast against the darkness of the background, as do the blurred lights. I love how clear the water and bottom half of the bridge are while the top portion of the photo is super blurry. I think this creates a great contrast and really allows the viewer's eyes to focus on the bottom to middle section of the photo.
To edit this photo, I altered it in many ways. First, I added a filter to the photo that had a lot of blue tones in it and I thought it worked really well for this photo. After adding the filter, I adjusted the orange hues as well as the saturation for the lights on the sidewalk to make them bright and really stand out as the reflection of the lights on the wet sidewalk are my favorite part of this photo. After this I played around with the shadows, highlights, exposure and contrast until I was satisfied with the photo. One of the last things I did to alter this photo was using the blur and really focusing on the light and their reflection and blurring out the background more. I think this really added a nice artistic touch to the photo as the lights in the dark background are blurred and not distracting and I really enjoy the look of blurred lighting in photos. Playing around with blurring photos was not something I have previously done, but I really enjoyed it here and can now see what this does and how I can use it to make alterations to my photos. This project was really fun and I really hope to create more similar works going forward.
