ETX Alien Devastator - nose
Built for SHIPtember 2024.
Total length: 144 studs
The Devastator is the largest known ship in the Alien fleet. With a Bionium crystal energy generator powering the main laser cannon, the vessel is capable of destroying nearly any target on the ground or in orbit. Two assault turrets and a parasite fighter help defend against enemy attack. The antigravity ring in the rear allows for flight to and from orbit, while the three fusion engines provide forward thrust. When landing, the antigravity ring rotates to a horizontal position while four landing legs extend to support the spacecraft.
This was a really fun build, albeit a bit rushed to finish in time. To date, this is my largest single model as well as the most complex. The hardest part was making sure the aft, ring-shaped part of the hull was sturdy enough to support itself, closely followed by the technic mechanism to simultaneously extend all four landing legs and rotate the antigravity ring. Additionally, this was also my first attempt at a parabolic airframe.
