Remake Final Project
I chose a painting that's not well known, so to provide context I include the original and its derivative. At the top is Dance to the Berdash painted by George Catlin in the 1830's. In the middle is Honor Dance by Kent Monkman in 2020. The bottom one includes a bunch of Adobe Stock photos with the central figure I found online.
George Catlin's central figure was a two-spirit person. Kent Monkman reinterpreted the painting by placing his own drag alter ego as the central focus more as a celebrated figure of honor. My version keeps the central figure in drag and sets the ensemble in a contemporary, urban environment.
