Be afraid
In the frozen lands of Avalon there is a tale about a monster created in ancient times by the god of Chaos from scraps of a rare, incredibly durable metal. Every last night of the year the beast wakes up from the deep, cold sleep and roams around villages and cities of the kingdom. In order to mollify it, people leave a tribute consisting of valuable items in front of their houses. In the past, many warriors have attempted to defeat the monster and stop this practice, but with no result. However, there are still people who have doubts about the existence of the beast (blaming thieves for taking the valuables) and don’t lock themselves in their homes until the cursed night ends. The next day, these people are always found missing…
In my creation I incorporated some vanitas symbols - sword (fame), gold coins (wealth) and a young girl (beauty), all vulnerable to time (clock) and death (skull, monster).
